Ever since it was established back in 1916, the Primus Ouwel company has produced wafer paper. The first factory, like the current-day one, was located in the Zaanstreek region of the Netherlands which flanks the river Zaan, an area commonly referred to as Holland's "food valley". In 1935, there was a merger between Primus Ouwel and the De Vrede wafer paper factory and much later, in 1997, the group took over its Dutch rival, Zaano Ouwelfabrieken.
Today Primus Ouwel is an international company which sells its products across five continents.
The decision to join forces with German company W.u.H. Küchle GmbH & Co. KG, forming a platform named World of Wafers, was taken with the aim of offering an even wider assortment of wafers to all world markets.
