Wafer paper is a raw material used in the confectionery sector. It is edible and is the ideal semi-finished product for numerous other food products such as, for example, bread, pastry, cakes and sweets. Recently, wafer paper also extended its reach into the advertising and communication sector with an exciting new product: edible flyers.
In the Netherlands, wafer paper is widely used in the baking of coconut macaroons and in edible labels and confectionery, while in France, Italy and Spain, it is commonly used in the preparation of nougat and cakes. In addition, wafer paper decorations are very popular for giving cakes an extra special finishing touch. In Germany and the U.K., wafer paper is used in confectionery to make edible bank notes which children go crazy for. Each country, therefore, has its own characteristic use for this highly versatile product.
